
Univ.-Prof. Dr. Alexander Shapiro
Alexander (Sasha) studied mathematics and astronomy at Saint Petersburg State University (Russia). In 2009, he was awarded his doctorate by ETH Zürich. After a postdoc at the Physikalisch-Meteorologisches Observatorium Davos he joined the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research, first as a Marie Curie Fellow and then as the Leader of a Group funded by a Starting Grant from the European Research Council. He joined the University of Graz as a full professor in October 2024, while keeping a part-time employment at the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research. He is leading the stellar research at the University of Graz. He is the Corresponding Principal Investigator of the Synergy Grant ‘REVEAL’ which aims at disentangling measurements of planetary masses and the fingerprints of molecules in planetary atmospheres from the variability of the host star.”
